Catherine Getchell began in her position as director of Disability Resources at Carnegie Mellon in November 2016. Prior to that, she was a counselor and then district administrator for 12 years at Pennsylvania’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, a state agency that assists people with disabilities in obtaining employment and independence. She received her bachelor’s degree in linguistics from Yale University in 2002 and her master’s in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004. Catherine is passionate about promoting the rights, self-advocacy, and independence of people with disabilities. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the trumpet, riding her bike, studying Arabic, hiking, kayaking and cooking.

Patrick McCue

Patrick joined the Disability Resources team in July 2019. Patrick received his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Duquesne University and earned his master’s degree in rehabilitation science and technology with a focus in counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining the ODR team, Pat held several positions in the counseling and rehabilitation field, including work as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at OVR and a Disability Management Coordinator at UPMC Workpartners. Patrick has always had a passion for assistive technology and disability advocacy, and is looking forward to working with the students and families at CMU.

When not at work, Pat spends his free time following Pittsburgh sports, listening to music and cooking for his family. Most weekends, Patrick can be found biking along the rivers and through the woods around Pittsburgh. Pat currently resides in the South Hills with his wife Jaclyn, kids Mary and Francis, and pup Benjamin.

Ethan Obstarczyk has been working in the Office of Disability Resources since November 2013 and transitioned into the role of Accessibility Specialist in the summer of 2024. Before coming to CMU, he worked at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health, assisting with the coordination of a Hepatitis B study. A people person by nature, Ethan enjoys the day-to-day interaction with the students of CMU and their families when they visit campus. He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in 2007 and his master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 2024.

When not at CMU, Ethan can typically be found watching and cheering on the Pittsburgh sports teams, especially his beloved Pirates. He also enjoys going to concerts and keeping up to date on the latest movies and video games.

Victoria Huston recently joined the Disability Resources team at Carnegie Mellon in October 2024. Victoria holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, government, and science in society from Wesleyan University, as well as a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision at Duquesne University. With a background in counseling and rehabilitation, Victoria has gained valuable experience in various Assistive Technology and Cognitive Rehabilitation roles in Johnstown, PA. Additionally, Victoria has acted as a research assistant for studies on neurodivergence, the purpose of education, and memory cognition. As a passionate advocate for disability access and equitable inclusion, she is eager to contribute to the CMU community. In her free time, Victoria enjoys attending musicals, competing in Spartan Races, and spending time with her family.

Jill joined the Disability Resources team in 2021. Jill received her BS from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN in Athletic Training/Exercise Science, and earned her MEd from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in Athletic Training with an emphasis in psychology. Jill brings with her many years of experience working with students with disabilities to help them reach their peak performance, whether it be on the athletic field, in the classroom or with activities of daily living. Jill is also a Certified Athletic Trainer. Before coming to CMU Jill worked as an exam proctor at University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, MI.

When not at work Jill enjoys all that Pittsburgh has to offer including seeing concerts, visiting museums and biking the city trails. But her favorite part of being back in Pittsburgh is going to Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Pitt games! Jill is a very proud mother to 3 amazing kids.

Gabriel began working with the Disability Resources team in September 2024. They hold a BA from St. John’s College in New Mexico; an MPhil in Anglo-Irish Literature from Trinity College in Dublin; and an MA in Medieval English Literature with a minor in Medieval History from the University of Minnesota. Prior to CMU, gabriel assisted high school seniors with college admissions; taught English literature, composition, and creative writing at the college, high school, and middle school levels; and headed a literacy center for underserved elementary students. Gabriel has a particular interest in ensuring access and inclusion for those with invisible disabilities, focusing on initiatives to improve student and teacher experiences during their two years teaching with AmeriCorps. 

Outside of CMU, gabriel is a writer, actor, and traveler who enjoys playing board games, researching unique Internet rabbit holes, collecting oddities, and spending the day with their two cats and two Spanish Greyhounds. They maintain a Little Free Library in their neighborhood and serve as a rescuer and foster parent for wayward Greyhounds and cats.
